Ultimate Golf Giveaway Winner Recently Returned to Golf

Renee from Birch Run, urged by friends and family to get back into golf, is excited and a little nervous about being the Gaylord Golf Mecca’s Ultimate Golf Giveaway Winner.
“I’m not sure I’m ready for a golf trip like this, but I’m excited and I’m going to get lessons before I go,” she said. “I’m going to get ready.”
Renee works for a remodeling company and has co-workers, friends and two of her three children who play golf.
“We are going to have to see how schedules work out before I know who I will bring on the trip with me,” she said. “My family has always been very active in sports, volleyball, baseball, softball. Now, I guess I’m a golfer.”
Once decided,
- Four nights of lodging, including one night at Garland Lodge & Golf Resort in Lewiston, two nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Gaylord and one final night at the Hampton Inn of Gaylord.
- Six rounds of golf, courtesy of Garland, Otsego Resort, Michaywe’ Pines Course, Indian River Golf Club and Black Lake Golf Club.
- Two dinners, one at Garland Lodge & Golf Resort and one at Alpine Tavern in Gaylord.
Renee saw a Facebook post about the Ultimate Golf Giveaway and entered to win. The Mecca annually presents the Ultimate Golf Giveaway, and thousands sign up through the website and at golf shows across the country. The Mecca is a cooperative marketing group that includes 17 golf courses and 21 lodging partners, including three resorts.
“I saw it and thought it would be fun to enter,” she said. “I’ve never won anything like this.” She said she has been to Gaylord often over the years but has never played golf in the area. “I knew there were a lot of nice courses in the area, but I didn’t realize how many,” she said. “It’s a really nice giveaway. It’s going to be a very new experience for me.”
