Spring Cleaning Has a Different Meaning

There’s nothing quite like springtime in the Gaylord Golf Mecca—sunshine, fresh air and the sound of hitting that perfect drive once again. While this season kicked off with a challenge, our optimism is in full swing.

On March 29, an ice storm swept through Gaylord and much of northern Michigan, leaving behind a tough cleanup job. But if there’s one thing our Mecca members—and our community—know how to do, it’s come together and rally. With dedicated staff and tree services working around the clock (some even seven days a week!), our courses are well on their way to being ready for an epic season.

Here’s the good news: there’s little to no tree damage to the fairways or greens. The playing surfaces you love are in great shape and the courses are making fantastic progress. While you may notice some brush piles or newly cleared areas in the woods, the beauty of northern Michigan golf remains. In fact, you might just find a new favorite view!

The Mecca’s golf season will be starting at its normal point in the spring and our courses are aiming to open on schedule! You can check out tentative opening dates here, and we’ll keep that page updated as things move forward. Please bear with our members as they continue working through occasional power and internet issues—some phone lines and systems may still be a bit spotty. We truly appreciate your patience as things settle back into place.

Behind the scenes, the courses are getting the full spring treatment to make sure every tee box, bunker and green is just how you remember it—if not better. So, while spring cleaning looks a little different in the Mecca this year, rest assured: your favorite courses are preparing to welcome you back for an incredible golf season.

Keep your clubs close—it won’t be long now.
