Media Guests Experience the Magic of the Mecca

What happens when you bring a group of media guests from across North America to the Gaylord Golf Mecca? You get a lot of golf, a lot of content and a lot of people discovering why Northern Michigan has become one of the country’s favorite summer golf destinations.

Recently, influencers, content creators and golf media representatives from the United States and Canada visited the Mecca on a familiarization (FAM) trip designed to showcase the courses, lodging, dining and experiences that make the region unique.

The group included:

  • America’s Golfing Couple, Alice and Danny Scott (americasgolfingcouple), who visited the Gaylord Golf Mecca before venturing overseas to other golf destinations.
  • Kerry Maher, a Golf & Fitness Influencer from Canada and a standout golfer (kerrymahergolf), visited from Nova Scotia.
  • Meg and Derrel Watt, also known as megthegolfer, who brought plenty of energy and enthusiasm to the trip while sharing their experiences across social media.
  • Finesse Bartlett (golfingwithfinesse), a golf influencer from Florida and a first-time visitor, wowed fellow golfers throughout the trip with a game that matched her growing social media following.
  • Mike Ratchman from Texas Golf Insider (texasgolfinsider) joined us with his wife, Ava.
  • Barry Cronin from the Chicago District Golfer (cdgagolf) also checked out America’s favorite summer golf destination.
  • Crossroads Marketing Representatives Abbey Algiers and Eric Fowler led the group.

The group played nine of the 16 Mecca member golf courses, dined in several area restaurants, including some at the resorts, and enjoyed lodging at Otsego Resort, Treetops Resort and Garland Lodge & Golf Resort.

We witnessed them creating content at each course, and it was clear they loved their visit to the heart of Northern Michigan.

They did pieces on the courses, the community, the food and even elk viewing. And they had fun using their influence to encourage others to visit the Gaylord Golf Mecca.

The courses they played included Monarch, Fountains and The Sawyer at Garland, Michaywe’ Pines Course, Signature at Treetops Resort, Black Bear Golf Course, Lakes of the North, The Tribute at Otsego Resort and Gaylord Golf Club.

It was a lot of golf for avid golfers, but they would have played even more.

Check them out on Facebook, Instagram and their websites, all easy to search for and find. Their fun translates, and you can get a preview of what you can expect when you visit the Gaylord Golf Mecca.

By the end of the trip, the media guests and influencers had experienced only a portion of what the Gaylord Golf Mecca has to offer, but it was enough to leave a lasting impression. Their photos, videos and stories are now helping introduce new golfers to the 16 courses and 21 lodging partners that make the Mecca one of America’s premier summer golf destinations.
