GAYLORD GOLF VOTED #1 FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW
Gaylord, MI- (October 2, 2002) The Gaylord Golf Mecca has once again been selected as the Midwest’s premier summer golf destination by receiving the highest praise from one of the region’s top golf publications.
Great Lakes Golf Magazine, a golf publication enjoyed by golfers through out the Midwest, recently released its 2nd annual “Player’s Choice Awards,” which selected the Gaylord Golf Mecca as the #1 golf destination in the Midwest. This was the second year in row the Gaylord area was awarded this high honor from the publication’s readers.
The survey, which was sent out in the publication this summer, asked readers a number of golf related travel questions. The questions focused on the best courses, top new courses, top destinations, best holes and best service, to name a few. The ballots were then tallied by publication officials and presented in the recent September 2002 issue.
The Gaylord Golf Mecca was selected above other great destinations such as Harbor Springs, MI, home of Boyne USA, and Kohler WI, home to Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straights. Harbor Springs and Kohler made the top five, along with Grand Rapids- MI, and Indianapolis-IN.
“This continues to solidify our claim of the Gaylord area as the top golf destination in the Midwest and one of the best in the country,” said Paul Beachnau, Executive Director for the Gaylord Area Convention and Tourism Bureau. “It’s an honor to know that the quality and quantity of great golf in Gaylord is consistently being rated #1 among golfers, especially considering the number of great destinations in the Midwest.”
