Treetops Patriot Golf Day 2008!

Treetops will be converting the popular Par Three Amateur Shootout into the Patriot Golf Day Shootout to raise awareness and funds for those who have devoted their lives to our country. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation providing scholarships and support to children and spouses of those who have lost their lives in the War on Terror.
Festivities begin on Friday, August 29th with an Opening Ceremony at Treetops North. This special event will include tributes to the fallen with an honor guard ceremony, a possible flyover and honored guests, Duane and Dawn Bucklin. The Bucklin’s lost their son Brock in Iraq on May 31, 2006 and Brock has since become the inspiration behind the PGA of America’s Patriot Golf Day. Friday will also include "Big Break" style competitions for the players to compete in.
The tournament will begin on Saturday with an 18 hole two-person best ball on The Fazio Premier and 9 holes on the world famous Threetops course which will be set up exactly the way it was when Fred Couples bested Chris Dimarco, Craig Stadler and Andy North in the 2006 Par Three Shootout. Saturday evening will include a reception, dinner and more tributes to our soldiers.
Play will continue on Sunday with an 18 hole two – person scramble on the Rick Smith Signature and another 9 holes on Threetops which will again be set up as it was for ESPN’s Par Three Shootout.
Prizes will be awarded to those who beat the top all time shot during the 8 airings of the Par 3 Shootout, those who top the field with individual net and gross scores on Threetops and the teams who fare the best on the Fazio Premier and Smith Signature courses over the course of the two day competition. Awards will be given at the conclusion of round 2. Added bonuses given to tournament players include $25 practice rounds on Friday and Monday and lodging rooms will be discounted significantly.
