Kevin Henley, general manager and course superintendent at The Natural at Beaver Creek Resort, knows the many wonderful things about the Gaylord Golf Mecca member property where he works.
Following are his favorite things:
1.The Natural is a Jerry Matthews and Associates design, in fact, one that the late Michigan Golf Hall of Fame designer considered among his company’s best efforts. It is visually appealing, playable and enjoyable. It is a delightful place to get away and play golf for a few hours and you’re certain to spot wildlife enjoying the beautiful rolling terrain, too.
2. If you wish to warm-up before you play, or just practice period, it is not a problem. A well-manicured practice facility that includes a full driving range, large chipping area and practice putting green await.
3. The views from the clubhouse deck are awesome. It’s located on an elevated bluff overlooking scenic wetlands with magnificent views of picturesque holes 9 and 18, as well as natural rolling hills, towering trees and beautiful green as far as the eye can see in the summer. In the fall, the colors of nature will wow you as well.
4. The Natural is a wonderful place to hang out. They offer great food and drinks at what you might call the 19th Hole, or Hole 9½ or Hole 1A. Your choice, or all three. It’s a perfect place to relax and talk with old friends or new friends you just met on the course.
5. A welcoming staff is waiting to serve you on the west side of Otsego Lake. They are friendly, helpful and dedicated to providing outstanding service. They are some of the nicest folks in Gaylord, and they come by it, well, naturally.
