Otsego Club Launches Youth and Family Golf Initiative.

Classic course will incorporate 8” cups, forward tees, and FootGolf for juniors, beginners and families!

eblastmay15frischGaylord, MI – In an effort to make the game more fun and attract more kids, beginners, and families to the sport, Otsego Club, located in Gaylord, MI, is launching an initiative that will include 8” cups, forward tees, and FootGolf on its popular Classic golf course in 2015.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to introduce the game of golf to more young people and new players through this initiative, said Mark Hogan, director of golf at Otsego Club. “With the industry struggling with participation and developing new players, we wanted to create an opportunity at Otsego Club that would make the game fun and attractive for kids, families, and potential new players.”
The Classic golf course is the perfect venue to incorporate these growing the game initiatives. The course, designed in 1955 by William Diddle, is a gently rolling parkland layout, which is very walkable. The course features open fairways and old style push up greens with openings to run the ball up, which is perfect for kids, women, and beginners.
The Classic course will still feature the traditional cups along with the 8” cups on each of the green giving players of all levels an option. If you are a family with beginners and experienced golfers, you will now have a choice of regular or forward tees (75-200 yards) and traditional or 8” holes to play to.
Families looking to get active with their kids on the course will also enjoy the FootGolf experience. The Classic course will feature three holes being used for FootGolf, which combines the popular sports of soccer and golf, and uses soccer balls on a traditional golf course with 21-inch diameter cups and similar rules.
