Play The Tour

Beautiful Black Lake, Gorgeous Gaylord Golf Club, Magnificent Michaywe Pines

Black Lake Golf Club in partnership with Gaylord Golf Club and The Pines at Michaywe’, a trio of Gaylord Golf Mecca gems, offer what’s called the Tour Package. It’s spectacular and popular and fun and classic, and because of all that has been presented every year since 2000. It’s as good as it gets because of what the golfers get in the deal.

Here’s my favorite way to approach it:

The first day – and we have long wonderful days up here on the western edge of the Eastern Time Zone – includes arrival to the Mecca, a round of golf at either classic Gaylord Golf Club or The Pines at Michaywe’ at your desired available tee time and the scenic finish of the drive to Onaway and the UAW Black Lake Conference Center where you will be staying for two nights.

The next day you play the great Black Lake, which features the latest golf carts with GPS systems. You also get to work on the short game if you choose and later play the nine-hole par 3 walking Little Course (all holes 33 yards to 117 yards, and it is great!) for a full day of outstanding golf.

Then, following your second peaceful Northern Michigan slumber, you play the third great course in the package (either Gaylord Golf Club or The Pines).

The best part might be the price. It is a very reasonable $234 weekend price per golfer. It starts at $204 if you do it midweek this summer (until May 27 those prices are $204 weekend and $184 midweek).

Think about it: 63 holes of great golf over three days in the Gaylord Golf Mecca, America’s summer golf destination. In addition, great food is at all three Mecca stops along the way, including the cozy Black Lake Golf Club Grill.

Architect Rees Jones designed a golf course at Black Lake that makes venturing with golf clubs a special experience. Isolated in Northern Michigan nature it spreads across amazing land formations in a classic golf design with imaginative bunkering. It is a wonderful get-away-from-it-all spot just an hour from Gaylord and an hour from the Mackinac Bridge.

Gaylord Golf Club and The Pines are the longstanding elite and traditional courses in the Gaylord area, both Don Childs designs with classic lines, beautiful tree-lined fairways and top conditioning. They have been the favorite stops of Gaylord area visitors for years.

Take The Tour. It’s the perfect example of a great golf package among many that you can find in the Gaylord Golf Mecca, which features 17 world-class golf courses at nine resort properties and 21 lodging partners. We are talking 297 holes of golf and countless lodging choices from cabins to high-end resort rooms at any and all price points.
