GAYLORD GOLF MECCA: Where Labor Day is Play Golf Day

By Greg Johnson

Labor Day is coming up soon, and our country pays tribute to working people with what some see as the last long weekend of the summer. Parades, picnics, boat rides and, of course, golf are among the activities that are used to turn Labor Day into a play day.

In the Gaylord Golf Mecca, we choose golf. The 17 member courses and our 21 lodging partners are sure to be buzzing with golfers this Labor Day Weekend.

While some folks see it as the unofficial last weekend of summer, the Gaylord Golf Mecca sees it as a turn toward the homestretch of the golf season.

It might be our favorite time to golf in Northern Michigan. The days are still lasting a little longer, the weather is late summer wonderful with warm days and cool nights, and the great green golf courses are a tremendous and all-too-brief escape from the work world. A tee time in the Mecca is a ticket to putting the labors of life aside for some outdoor fun at places designed specifically for the golfer.

The best part: the quantity of golf choices at affordable prices. Visit our website, and you will note the cooperative marketing group of golf destinations offers courses designed by legends of golf, including Robert Trent Jones. To top it off, the rounds are at price points that are unmatched in other resort areas.

The Mecca has it all: rolling green fairways as far as you can see, tall, beautiful trees that isolate and make you feel like it’s your own personal playground, beautiful wildflower meadows that frame the great variety of golf holes, sparkling blue waters and more.

You work hard, and the absolute best bang for your buck is what you receive when you golf in the Mecca. Call it our way of paying tribute to hard-working people and golfers every day of the golf season.

Happy Labor Day. Swing up our way and swing away.
